Your Gym Bag Essentials

If you’re new to getting fit or an old crusty veteran of the game, you may or may not be carrying these items in your gym bag.  I’ve deemed them the must-haves.  Yours may differ, but I think I hit the nail on the head here.  Ahhhhhhhhh, here it goes!


  • Towel (For sweat OR post shower/pool)

  • Quick Carbs (Energy source.  Think fruit or an energy bar)

  • Body Spray (Stay away from those awful middle school scents)

 

  • Jump rope (In case the treadmills are full)

  • Extra Headphones (Nothing will kill a workout quicker)

  • Combination Lock (Because your stuff is worth protecting)

 

  • Athletic Underwear (I hate when I forget these #ThickThighProbs)

  • A Clean Shirt (a sweat covered shirt is hard to pull off in public)

  • Protein Powder (Your post workout recovery)

 

  • Watch (to keep your routine structured and free of distractions)

  • Water Bottle (to stay hydrated before, during, and after exercise)

  • A Couple Bucks (In case you forget a snack)

 

  • Small Pad and Pen (Have a plan of attack)

  • Hand Sanitizer (Gyms are disgusting places)

  • Tennis ball (To massage knots and tight spots)


Also, don't forget to sanitize your gym bag periodically.  I'm way too guilty of not doing this.  God knows what germs are hiding inside there.  Happy 2016!  May the Force be with you!
