I'm Vinny Black, and I work as a Personal Trainer and Exercise Physiologist in Murfreesboro, TN.

I don't expect you to be perfect.  I'm a lot like you.  I bet some days you wake up and think, "How am I going to mess things up today."  Those same thoughts and struggles run through my mind as well!  I believe it's my honesty with my own failures and imperfections that gives me life and allows me to connect with you.

But, thank God for the sacrifice of his only son to save us from our wretched humanness.  I am the product of grace upon grace upon grace upon grace upon grace.  And without God's redemptive grace through Jesus, I'd be in big big trouble.

My Journey to Health

I ate my first vegetable when I was 20 years old.  There I sat in the middle of Olive Garden with two pieces of lettuce on my plate, four croutons, and a breadstick.  With my history of getting sick to my stomach at the crunch of an onion in the back of my head, I took one teeny tiny bite of lettuce, covered it up with a crouton, and two bites of a breadstick.  Voila!  I had done it.  I didn't throw up, it tasted okay, and I finished the other piece of lettuce too!

Up to that point in my life, I had exercised irregularly, taken a lot of different dietary supplements, played 3rd string Junior Varsity High School Football,  and even won a 5th place ribbon during an obscure track and field event.  I would not have considered myself on a journey toward better health.  But that magical moment at Olive Garden led me to look at better health as a way of life, not some gimmick we giggle about during the holidays.  Being a healthy active person is now the goal, nothing else!
